Jason Mudrick | Chief Investment Officer

Jason is the founder and Chief Investment Officer of Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., an investment firm that specializes in long and short investments in special situation credits. Mudrick Capital was founded in 2009 with $5 million under management. As of August 2022, the firm has grown to manage approximately $3.3 billion, primarily for institutional clients.

Jason began his Wall Street career in 2000 advising on mergers and acquisition transactions as an Associate in Merrill Lynch’s Mergers & Acquisitions Investment Banking Group. In 2001 he joined Contrarian Capital Management, where he began his focus on special situation investing. In October 2002 Jason launched the Contrarian Equity Fund, an investment vehicle focused on purchasing debt that would be restructured into equity, post-bankruptcy equities and other event driven deep value special situations. As Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Contrarian, Jason grew that business to peak assets of approximately $400 million in the Contrarian Equity Fund and close to $1 billion in total assets including the positions Contrarian’s other funds co-invested along-side Jason's fund. Jason left Contrarian in October 2008 to launch Mudrick Capital.

Jason has served on multiple creditors' committees and served on the Board of Directors of numerous public and private companies, including Safety-Kleen Holdings, Integrated Alarm Services Group, Salton, Rotech Healthcare, NJOY Holdings, Corporate Risk Holdings, Mudrick Capital Acquisition Corporation, Mudrick Capital Acquisition Corporation II, Fieldwood Energy, Proenza Schouler, cxLoyalty, Tenerity, AURA Network Systems and Thryv. Jason also spent two years in graduate school teaching economics classes to Harvard University undergraduates. Jason has a B.A. in Political Science from the College of the University of Chicago and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. Jason was admitted to the New York State Bar.

Victor Danh | Managing Director & Senior Analyst

Victor is a Managing Director and Senior Analyst at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he is responsible for analyzing special situation opportunities across a diverse range of industries and overseeing and coordinating the research team. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., Victor was a Vice President and Assistant Portfolio Manager at Contrarian Capital Management, LLC from 2003 to 2009 where he focused on deep value and special situation investments in a wide range of industries across the entire capital structure. Previously, Victor worked at Merrill Lynch in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group and at UBS in the Technology Investment Banking Group. Victor received a B.A. in Economics from Harvard College.

Scott Bynum | Managing Director & Senior Analyst

Scott is a Managing Director and Senior Analyst at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he is responsible for analyzing special situation opportunities across a diverse range of industries. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital, Scott served as a co-Portfolio Manager of the Global Credit Opportunities Fund and related SMA’s at CVC from 2013 to 2021. He was also responsible for building the Global Special Situations strategies, for which he served as a member of the Investment Committee. Prior to joining CVC, Scott was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs in the Global Bank Loan Distressed Investing group where he was responsible for hedging and portfolio analytics as well as leading investments across the capital structure in public and private companies. Scott graduated magna cum laude with a BSE from Princeton University.

Oscar Anderson | Managing Director

Oscar is a Managing Director at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he is responsible for select portfolio management and business development. Oscar joined CVC's credit business in 2008 where he was instrumental in developing the Firm’s unconstrained liquid credit strategies. At CVC, Oscar was a co-Portfolio Manager of the Global Credit Opportunities Fund and a Member of the Global Special Situations investment committee. He also managed adjacent SMA’s and was a member on the firm’s Benefits & 401-K Committee.   Prior to joining CVC, Oscar held various senior positions in the Leveraged Finance Groups of Wachovia Securities and CIBC World Markets.  He began his Wall Street career at Solomon Brothers Inc as an Investment Banking analyst in 1992. Oscar received his AB from Harvard University.

Lisa Ong | Managing Director and Senior Analyst

Lisa Ong is a Managing Director and Senior Analyst at Mudrick Capital Management (UK) Ltd., where she is responsible for analyzing investment opportunities across the capital structure (credit and equity) across all industries, with a focus on Europe and ex-US. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital, Lisa worked as a Senior Investment Professional in Canyon Capital from 2013 to 2021 and in Apollo Management from 2011 to 2013 where she played an instrumental role in growing their investments in Europe. Prior to joining Apollo, Lisa held various positions in King Street Europe, Credit Suisse and ABN AMRO, both in London and in Australia. Lisa has a Masters degree from the University of New South Wales and a B.Commerce from the University of Melbourne.

Shankar Murugavell | Managing Director & Senior Analyst

Shankar is a Managing Director & Senior Analyst at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he focuses on analyzing credit and equity opportunities across a diverse range of industries. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital, Shankar was an Analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions and Diversified Industrials Group at UBS Investment Bank from 2007 to 2009 and a Summer Analyst in 2006. At UBS, Shankar advised companies in various industries, including diversified industrials, energy and consumer products, on strategic alternatives including mergers and acquisitions and capital market opportunities. Shankar received a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Northwestern University.

Kent Kim | Managing Director & Senior Analyst

Kent is a Managing Director & Senior Analyst at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he focuses on analyzing credit and equity opportunities across a diverse range of industries. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital, Kent was an associate from 2011 to 2013 at Kohlberg & Company, a multi-billion dollar private equity firm. While there, Kent worked on a variety of middle market private equity transactions including platform and add-on investments, divestitures, and financings across numerous industries. Prior to that, Kent was an Analyst in the Leveraged Finance Origination & Restructuring investment banking group at Credit Suisse from 2009 to 2011. Kent received his B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Princeton University.

Matt Pietroforte | Managing Director & Senior Analyst

Matt is a Managing Director & Senior Analyst at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he is responsible for analyzing special situation opportunities across a diverse range of industries. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., Matt was a Principal at Davidson Kempner Capital Management from 2015 to 2019 where he evaluated special situation investment opportunities. Previously, Matt worked as an investment banker in the financial restructuring advisory groups at Centerview Partners and Miller Buckfire. Neil Kumar | Analyst

Neil is an Analyst at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he is responsible for analyzing special situation opportunities across a diverse range of industries. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., Neil was an Analyst at Centerview Partners from 2019 to 2021. Kevin Sahl | Head Trader

Kevin is the Head Trader at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he is responsible for trade execution and analyzing special situation opportunities across a diverse range of industries. Formerly, Kevin was as an Analyst and the Head Trader at Kenmont Investments Management, LP from 2005 to 2009, covering various industries within the transportation sector. Prior to that, Kevin was an Analyst with Carlson Capital, LP from 2003 to 2005, focusing on investments in the airline sector. Kevin also assisted in risk analysis of Carlson’s credit portfolio. Before his work at Carlson, he was a Senior Associate at DebtTraders, Inc. from 2002 to 2003, where he specialized in aircraft trust certificates. He also worked as a Summer Associate at Lincolnshire Management, Inc., a private equity firm in 2001. Before attending graduate school, Kevin was a Loan Trading Analyst at Bank of Montreal from 1996 to 2000. Kevin received his M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business, where he concentrated in Finance and Accounting, and served as a Statistics Teaching Fellow. Kevin received his B.S. in Mathematics with a subfield in Economics from the College of the University of Chicago.

Anthony Turilli | Assistant Trader

Anthony is an Assistant Trader at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he supports the Head Trader with trade execution and analysis while serving as a liaison to other departments within the firm. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital, Anthony was an Operations Associate at Och-Ziff Capital Management from 2013 to 2016 where he was responsible for the daily operations of various products and Funds including the OZ Master Fund.  Anthony also supported the Futures desks in New York, Hong Kong and London. Prior to joining Och-Ziff, Anthony was a Hedge Fund Accountant at Meridian Fund Services from 2009 to 2013 where he was responsible for the daily and month-end accounting functions of more than fifteen hedge fund clients.  Prior to Meridian, Anthony was a Private Equity Fund Accountant at Mourant Fund Services from 2007 to 2009 where he focused on reconciliations, capital call distributions and financial statement preparation. Anthony began his career in 2007 at J.P. Morgan Chase in their Fund Accounting group.  Anthony holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Boston University.

OPERATIONS

Thomas Bachner | President

Prior to Mudrick, Mr. Bachner spent 19 years at Bridgewater Associates most recently as Global Head of Institutional Partnerships, responsible for all third-party distribution as well as a group of Bridgewater's strategic relationships.  Throughout his tenure, Mr. Bachner also had a variety of roles including Head of Client Advisors, in which role he was responsible to ensure excellent client service.

Before Bridgewater, Mr. Bachner served 10 years in the U.S. government in a variety of intelligence-related roles. He served three tours in Eastern Europe, including two years in Bosnia as part of the NATO peacekeeping mission. After leaving government service and earning an MBA from the University of Texas-Austin, Mr. Bachner was a strategy consultant for Arthur D. Little, focused on corporate financial strategy. He received a BA in political science with a focus on Soviet-American relations from Yale College, where he was a member of the varsity hockey team for three years.

Glenn Springer, CPA | Chief Financial Officer

Glenn is the Chief Financial Officer of Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he oversees the finance, accounting and operations functions. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital, Glenn was Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operating Officer at Turtle Creek Investment Advisors, LLC from 2007 to 2008 where he developed from inception, its operational and financial infrastructure. Prior to joining Turtle Creek, Glenn served as Chief Financial Officer & Chief Compliance Officer of SBZ Select Investments, LLC from 2005 to 2007 where he was responsible for the finance, accounting and compliance functions, including the registration of two investment advisors with the SEC. Previously, Glenn served as Controller (A.A.I.UK), Director of Fund Accounting, and a Risk Management Affiliated Fund Analyst at Asset Alliance Corporation from 2000 to 2004. Prior to Asset Alliance, Glenn was a Senior Accountant in PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP’s Financial Services and Business Advisory Services Group from 1998 to 2000 where his focus was on audits of a variety of investment companies including hedge funds and private equity funds. Glenn began his career at Richard A. Eisner & Co. LLP from 1996 to 1998 where he was a Senior Accountant in the Audit Department. Glenn received a B.A. from the State University of Albany and an M.B.A. from Baruch College, CUNY. Glenn is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York.

John Day | Director of Operations

John is Director of Operations at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he supports the CIO, Operations and Compliance team. Prior to joining Mudrick, John most recently worked in the technology industry where he ran the operations and product development for an electro-chemical sensor company. Before that role, he served as Chief Operating Officer in a medium-size manufacturing organization and P&L/GM lead in a large manufacturing and holding company. Prior to joining the corporate sector, John spent over ten years as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps where he served in various Infantry and Special Operations assignments including multiple combat deployments. John received a B.S. in Environmental Science from Texas A&M University.

Jonathan Villoslada, CPA | Controller

Jonathan is the Controller of Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he supports the CFO in overseeing finance, operations, and administrative functions. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital, Jonathan served as Controller of GLG Ore Hill LLC, where he was employed from 2008 to 2014 and was responsible for the fund accounting and reporting functions of the fund. Prior to joining GLG Ore Hill LLC, Jonathan was an Auditor in PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP's Assurance and Business Advisory Services Group from 2005 to 2007 where his audit clients included hedge funds and broker dealers. Jonathan received a B.S. in Accounting from Rutgers College. Jonathan is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York.

Victoria Koleski, CPA | Senior Accountant

Victoria is the Senior Accountant of Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where she supports the CFO and Controller in overseeing finance, operations, and various administrative functions. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital, Victoria worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP as a Senior Associate and her clients were primarily hedge funds and private equity funds. Victoria received a B.B.A. in Accounting from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Science in Accounting from Babson College. Victoria is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Massachusetts.

Justin DeVito | Senior Accountant

Justin is a Senior Accountant at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he supports the CFO and Controller in accounting and operational functions. Prior to joining the firm, Justin spent four years at Och-Ziff Capital Management, in various roles covering fund accounting, derivative settlements, security reference data processing and most recently a role as Financial Controls Manager of the P/L reporting group. In this role, he managed the daily valuation and performance reporting processes of the firm’s hedge fund business. Justin began his career as a Senior Hedge Fund Accountant at SS&C Technologies, Inc. where he focused on trade processing, partnership allocations, valuations and NAV calculations.  Justin has a B.S. in Finance from Lehigh University and an M.B.A. with a concentration in Accounting from Pace University, where he graduated with the highest GPA in his major.

Nuha Chowdhury | Senior Accountant

Nuha Chowdhury is a Senior Accountant at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P, where she supports the CFO and Controller in operational and accounting functions. Prior to joining the firm, Nuha worked at Domio as a Director of Operations, expanding their Operations in North America. Prior to Domio, Nuha worked at Guggenheim Partners in Operations, focusing on syndicated bank loan transactions. She began her career at Nomura in Prime Brokerage. Nuha holds a B.S. in Finance from Fordham University.

Douglas Aaron, CPA | Senior Accountant

Douglas is a Senior Accountant at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he supports the CFO and Controller in overseeing finance and operational functions. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital, Douglas worked as an Associate on the reporting team at Fortress Investment Group where he focused on streamlining data to provide deliverables to various internal and external users including senior management and regulators. Prior to joining Fortress Investment Group, Douglas supported the finance team at Centiva Capital, LP where he held various fund accounting and treasury roles. He started his career at Ernst and Young LLP as a Senior Associate and his audit clients were primarily hedge funds and private equity funds. Douglas received a B.B.A. in Accounting from Loyola University Maryland. Douglas is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York.

Amelia Serban | Executive Assistant

Amelia is the Executive Assistant to Jason Mudrick, the CIO and founder of Mudrick Capital Management, L.P. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital in January 2021, Amelia was a private flight attendant for a UHNWI where she assisted the principal and their family with all in-flight needs, from 2018 to 2020. Amelia also has a background in sales and administrative assistance at Enterprise Holdings Inc. where she was also responsible for the management of mid-sized and large account partnerships. Amelia received her B.S. in Communications at Radford University

Shannon Cody | Business Development & Investor Relations

Shannon Cody is responsible for business development and investor relations in EMEA for Mudrick Capital Management (UK), Ltd. Prior to joining Mudrick in August 2019, Shannon was a Director at Barclays Investment Bank in London from 2009 to 2019 where she was Head of European Capital Introductions. Shannon started her career in the Analyst program at Morgan Stanley working in Prime Brokerage. Shannon received a B.S. in Finance and Marketing from the D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University.

Jamie Ferrara | Investor Relations

Jamie is responsible for Investor Relations at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital in 2009, Jamie was the Public Relations Coordinator for McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP, an international law firm, from 2007 to the Fall of 2009. At McKenna, Jamie coordinated and managed all media relations for the firm, managed the firm media database and website, and coordinated firm events. Jamie received a BA in Business Administration from Miami University in Ohio (2005) and a Masters in Integrated Marketing Communications from Emerson College in Boston (2006).

Andrew Neggia, CAIA | Investor Relations

Andrew is responsible for Investor Relations at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital in 2022, Andrew was a Client Analyst at Wellington Management Company from 2019 to 2021. At Wellington, Andrew worked on a relationship team servicing the firm’s clients in their subadvisory and hedge fund distribution channels. Prior to working at Wellington, Andrew was a Senior Associate at State Street from 2016 to 2019 in their Transfer Agency department. Andrew received a BA in Finance from Bryant University in Rhode Island where he was a captain of their Division I Swimming & Diving team. Andrew also holds his CAIA charter.

Nazneen Meah | Client Services (UK)

Naz is responsible for Client Services at Mudrick Capital Management (UK), Ltd. Prior to joining Mudrick in February 2020, Naz was a Legal PA for the CDC Group plc, where she supported the Deputy Chief Legal Officer and a group of equity lawyers. Her responsibilities included managing the review processes for NDA and consultancy agreements, overseeing travel logistics, and arranging conferences both in the UK and internationally. Prior to CDC Group plc, Naz worked as an Office Manager at PetroSaudi. Naz received a B.A. (Hons) in Business Administration with Operations Management from The University of Greenwich in London.

Elizabeth Kalvoda | Marketing Assistant & Office Manager

Elizabeth is the Marketing Assistant & Office Manager at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P.  Prior to joining Mudrick Capital in 2018, Elizabeth was a Clinical Supervisor at Farmingdale Physical Therapy West from 2015 to 2018 where she managed the day to day operations of the business. Her responsibilities included patient scheduling, filing and tracking, arranging executive travel and assistance with direct patient care. Elizabeth received her B.S. in Exercise Science & Kinesiology from the University of Delaware in May 2016 while also competing as an NCAA Division I Track & Field High Jumper.

Alisa Ardito | Chief of Staff to the President

Alisa is the Chief of Staff to the President and responsible for external communications at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P. Prior to Mudrick, Alisa spent over four years in the Client Service & Marketing department at Bridgewater Associates working with the firm's global strategic sub-advisory and distribution relationships. She most recently served as Chief of Staff to the Global Head of Institutional Partnerships focused on establishing Bridgewater's distribution business, directing the group's operations and logistics, and coordinating the communications for new product launches. Prior to Bridgewater, Alisa worked in global consumer marketing & advertising. She earned a B.A. in Economics from Wheaton College MA where she also was the captain of the Field Hockey team.

John O'Callaghan, Esq. | General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer

John is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he oversees the legal and compliance functions of the firm. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital, John was Associate General Counsel of Lone Pine Capital LLC from 2012 to 2017 where he was responsible for developing and managing legal and compliance functions within the firm.  Prior to joining Lone Pine, John was an Associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP from 2007 to 2012 where he focused on advising investment advisers and private funds on legal and compliance matters.  John received a B.A. in Chemistry with departmental honors from The Johns Hopkins University and a J.D. cum laude from Brooklyn Law School.  John is admitted to the New York and Connecticut state bars.

Kung-Che (K.C.) Tai | Legal & Compliance Associate

K.C. is a Legal and Compliance Associate at Mudrick Capital Management, L.P., where he assists in managing and developing the firm’s legal and compliance functions. Prior to joining Mudrick Capital, K.C. worked at Iron Road Partners, LLC as a regulatory consultant. At Iron Road Partners, K.C. worked with various alternative investment firms to assist with their compliance programs. Prior to working at Iron Road Partners, K.C. worked in the legal and compliance department at Oppenheimer Asset Management Inc. from 2013 to 2021, where he was a director from 2019 to 2021 and was responsible for regulatory filings and implementing the firm’s compliance program. K.C. received a LLB from National Taiwan University, a LLM from Soochow University, and a LLM in banking and financial law in Boston University. K.C. is admitted to the New York state bar.
